NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Landing Spots For Jaren Jackson Jr.

If Ja Morant is on his way out of Memphis, it's quite possible that star big man Jaren Jackson Jr. might also want out. On the latest Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN's Tim MacMahon wondered if JJJ would want to stick around for a rebuild.

Their actions are telling you that they're determined to rebuild the Grizzlies, I would say, around Jaren Jackson Jr. (But) There's a lot of discussion around the league wondering if that is mutual, I would say.

Tim Bontemps added, "All bets are off in general, the way things have gone there. I would not be sure I'd be rushing to take on Jaren Jackson Jr. and his money at this point. I'm not sure how that contract will age over time."

The Grizzlies' star big man just signed a 5-year, $240 million contract with Memphis, and it's only in Year 1.

Yahoo Sports' Kelly Iko made the same suggestion this week that Jackson Jr. could want to follow Ja out of town.

"There's a growing thought [among rival executives] that Jackson could be the next domino to fall at some point."

3 landing spots for Jaren Jackson Jr.

If that comes to pass, Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus has suggested the following three most likely landing spots for Jackson Jr.:

  • Boston Celtics
  • Golden State Warriors
  • Los Angeles Lakers

All three teams are championship-contender wannabes, but all three lack an impact big man in the middle. The Celtics traded away Kristaps Porzingis last summer, the Lakers dealt Anthony Davis last year (rightfully so, for Luka Doncic), and the Warriors... well, they haven't had a truly impactful center in years.

Do any of them have the pieces to convince the Grizzlies to move on from JJJ?

LeBron James' agent and BFF Rich Paul got in some hot water this week when he suggested on his podcast that the Lakers should trade Austin Reaves for Jackson Jr.

The Athletic's Johan Buva reported that people around LA are furious with the agent's comments. "I can confirm that people have not been happy, and I'm not gonna go more specific than that, but people have not been happy with that pod and some of the comments," Buha said.
