Huge Overnight Trade: Warriors Land Kristaps Porzingis

Jonathan Kuminga's time in Golden State is finally over. The Warriors have set him free in an overnight trade, while acquiring the center they so desperately needed, in Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis heads to Golden State, while Kuminga and Buddy Hield head to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Warriors pivoted to Porzingis after the Milwaukee Bucks informed the Warriors that they would NOT be accepting their offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“The Warriors hope to get Porzingis back healthy and productive for the stretch run," wrote Shams Charania. "He hasn't played since Jan. 7, but team sources said they anticipate Porzingis will make his return soon after joining Golden State. The Warriors are 27-24 and currently eighth in the Western Conference.”

Porzingis was a key piece in the Boston Celtics' 2024 championship run, and the Dubs hope he can do the same for them.

As for the Hawks, they like the upside of Kuminga, who was buried by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, given little opportunity to do his thing. He averaged 12.5 points on 50.3% shooting in his 278 career games with the Warriors in an average 22 minutes per night. The Hawks have a team option on Kuminga for $24.3 million next season.
