Giannis Antetokounmpo Refuses Milwaukee Bucks' Request

The on-again, off-again relationship between the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo has hit another snag. According to insider Shams Charania, the Greek Freak's has refused the team's request to shut down for the remainder of the season. The Bucks' playoff hopes are slim to none, and they don't want him to risk re-injuring his hyperextended knee.

According to Charania, Giannis and the team have met several times this week, and "a disagreement has ensued between the sides on whether it is best for him to return."

Antetokounmpo has been playing on and off over the last nine games (six games on, three games off) after sitting out for over a month with the ailment. He wants to come back and keep playing despite injuring his knee again, but the Bucks want him to just sit out the rest of the year.

The latest incident came in his last game on Sunday.

He came down awkwardly and you can see his leg buckle a bit.

Milwaukee is 28-40 and sitting in 11th spot in the East, a full six games back in the loss column from Charlotte, who own the last Play-In berth. There are only 14 games to play.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.6 points per game and 9.8 rebounds in only 36 games played this season.
