Stunning NBA Move: Bucks Waive Cam Thomas
For the second time in six weeks, recent 24-point-per-game scorer Cam Thomas has been waived. The Milwaukee Bucks were enamored with Thomas after the Brooklyn Nets waived him right after the trade deadline in February. They worked hard to convince him to come to Milwaukee.
That marriage lasted just six weeks.

It's a big slice of humble pie for Thomas, who expected his back-to-back seasons averaging 22 and then 24 points to land him a big extension from the Nets before the current campaign began. But he was forced to take a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer when it was clear that Brooklyn wasn't interested in giving him a long-term deal.
Then Thomas was injured much of the first half, and his scoring was down to 15 ppg when he did play. The Nets waived him, and the Bucks were all over him.
Cam Thomas was not the answer in Milwaukee, and is waived by the Bucks
In fact, Thomas exploded for 34- and 27-point games in his first four outings with Milwaukee. That prompted another trademark outrageous statement from head coach Doc Rivers, when he said, "I've had Jamal Crawford. I had Lou Williams. ... And now, I have Cam Thomas."
But Thomas went ice cold over the last 14 games, and Rivers, as is so often the case, was forced to eat his words. The team went 4-10 over that stretch, with Thomas struggling, scoring in single digits or not at all in 10 of those contests (he was a DNP-CD in two of them). He finishes his brief run with the Bucks averaging just 10.7 points per game.
Thomas can try to hook up with another team, but he will not be eligible for the playoffs if he signs.
He'll be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and after this embarrassment, it will be tough for him to garner the type of contract he was hoping to get.
