Video: Warriors' Moses Moody is Finished for Season After Gruesome Non-Contact Injury
It was a gruesome sight. Golden State Warriors' burgeoning young shooting guard was cruising in for an uncontested breakaway dunk Monday night, when his knee buckled as he jumped up for the basket. He collapsed to the floor, leaving him with a grisly-looking torn patellar tendon.

The video can be a bit unsettling to watch, so fair warning:

Players on both teams looked on in horror.
"I saw the looks on the Mavericks' faces," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "Everybody on the floor was just horrified. Players care about players. They know how fragile this business is and how short their careers are, and how injuries can happen and can be catastrophic."
Moody was eventually stretchered off the court.
Moody was having his best year with the Warriors in this, his 5th NBA season. He was averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steal while shooting 40% from three-point range. All of those numbers are career-highs.
The 23-year-old has two more years to run on his three-year, $37.5 million deal. But the injury could wipe out much, if not all, of the 2026-27 season for him.
He had just returned to play on Monday night after missing 10 games with a wrist injury.
Moody was the Dubs' first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has slowly, gradually, increased his scoring in each of his five seasons, with the real breakthrough coming this year. He's averaging a career-best 25.7 minutes per night.
For the Warriors, their injury problems continue to multiply. They've been without Steph Curry since the end of January, and of course, Jimmy Butler is out for the year with a torn ACL.
Golden State is in the 10th seed in the West, in the final Play-In spot. They're in no danger of dropping any farther, but their hopes in the Play-In are diminishing by the day.
