3 Toronto Raptors Who Won't Be Back Next Season
The Toronto Raptors had a better season than anyone outside their locker room could have expected, finishing with the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference and taking the heavily-favored Cleveland Cavaliers to 7 games in the first round.
But there are still more steps to take, obviously, for this team to get back to the pinnacle of the sport. The roster took some big steps this season, adding impressive rookie Collin Murray-Boyles and watching the drastic development of Ja'Kobe Walter and Jamal Shead.
But looking ahead to 2026-27, there will be some turnover. Here, we look at three Raptors who will likely not be back next season.
Which Raptors won't return next season?
1. Gradey Dick
The former lottery pick (13th overall, 2023 NBA Draft) has seen his stock fall dramatically in the past year. After a huge improvement last season to a 14.4 ppg average, Dick's minutes, usage, shooting and pretty much everything else fell off the table this year. He was a forgotten man by the time the playoffs rolled around and played a mere four minutes total in three of the games in the first round.
Still just 22, with a reputation of being able to knock down threes (though he shot just 30.3% this season), there should be a team willing to take a chance on Dick in a trade.
2. Sandro Mamukelashvili
"Mamu" played a huge role off the Raptors bench this season, providing 11.1 points per game, a career high. He brought his high-energy play, perimeter shooting, and elite passing off the bench in a big way, and was a key cog to their success all season.
But with a player option on a miminum $2.8M salary, he'll certainly decline and become a free agent. He will then ride his impressive season into a big payday in free agency — a payday that the Raptors probably won't be able to match.
He's saying all the right things. “I really want to be back. I love Toronto. I love the people, I love the organization, and Coach Darko (Rajakovic), I think he was a guy who gave me a chance to go out there and be myself."
Unfortunately, he'll probably come to realize this summer that a boatload of money will also allow him to be himself.
3. Jonathan Mogbo
The big man saw as dramatic a dropoff this season as Gradey Dick did. Mogbo went from 20 minutes a game and 6 ppg in his rookie season to just 6 minutes a game and 1.5 ppg. He was completely out of the rotation, and doesn't seem to be a part of the team's future at this point. With a team option at $2.3 million, it's quite likely the Raptors will not pick it up and let Mogbo find another opportunity.
