Buyer Beware: Antetokounmpo's Injury Troubles 'Really, Really Bad'

While everyone continues to ponder when and where Giannis Antetokounmpo will be traded, one thing that some teams might want to be aware of is just how healthy the Milwaukee Bucks superstar is.

According to Milwaukee insider Gery Woelfel, not only did he confirm that most observers around the league expect the Greek Freak to be traded this summer, he came up with some ominous reports about the two-time MVP's knees.

"Antetokounmpo’s physical status was brought up by several officials," writes Woelfel. "Said one, 'His knees are really, really bad.'
"Added another NBA player personnel official:

'We’re not trading for him but if we did, I’d thoroughly check out his knees. He’s got a lot of wear and tear in them.'

Last summer, Antetokounmpo made a shocking comment about the status of his knees, refering to playing the past few years through a hyperextended knee incident suffered all the way back in 2021.

“I still feel it… I think I’m going to feel it until I die," said Giannis last summer about the ongoing knee pain.

Then this year, he was sidelined with a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise after an awkward incident in a game in mid-March.

He never played another game this season after that (though he battled with the Bucks over his playing status down the stretch—he wanted to play, the team wouldn't let him).

One Bucks fan insists they need to trade Giannis ASAP before his body completely gives out.

It will be intriguing to see which team takes a chance on Antetokounmpo this summer, as a trade seems inevitable.

He played just 36 games this season, and had averaged about 65 games a year over the previous six years.
