Insider: LeBron James Signing 'A Done Deal'—But NOT With Cleveland
Brian Windhorst is usually spot on the money when it comes to dropping major NBA rumors. Especially when it comes to LeBron James. So if he says he's hearing that LeBron signing with a team other than Cleveland is a "done deal", we have to believe him.
LeBron was reportedly going to take his time over the next few weeks to choose between the leading contenders, the Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and... the Philadelphia 76ers? The Golden State Warriors? Here's what Windy had to say today:
"I'm hearing stuff in other cities, too. I'm not gonna say who, but I had somebody on the phone with me today that I consider a good source who was swearing it's a done deal in another city," Windhorst said.Brian Windhorst says he’s hearing that LeBron signing with a team other than Cleveland is a done deal.

He also dropped this little nugget (and we don't mean of the Denver variety), which leads us to believe that that "other city" is Miami, where James has some unfinished business after his run there from 2010 through 2014:
“I’m just going to say, as this process has gone on, I’ve been thinking more and more about LeBron in Miami. When he went back to Cleveland, it was about making something right. The way it ended in Miami wasn’t quite right. There would be something about making it right.”
No, things did not end well when LeBron and the Heat split up after four years. After all, he did promise "Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4...." all the way up to 7 or 8 NBA titles. He delivered on two of them. Is he going to go back and stick around to fulfill that entire promise? It's doubtful. But if he can ride on Giannis Antetokounmpo's coattails and at least help get them to three championships on his watch, that would be something.
In fact, Miami has quickly become the betting favorite on Polymarket, thanks to Windy's comments:
