Wizards' Potential Sign & Trade Offer For Jalen Duren

Social Media Feature Preview
Jalen Duren continues to be extremely down on the Detroit Pistons, who have offered him $200 million on a five-year deal—but they took too long, apparently, to get to that level. Yes, first-world problems, but Duren is feeling very disrespected by the Pistons. And it sounds like they are starting to warm to the possibility of having to ship him out in a sign-and-trade.

One team that has been recently added to the list of interested suitors for such a scenario is the Washington Wizards. No, fellow center Anthony Davis is not part of the hypothetical offer making the rounds, but young, impressive big man Alex Sarr is.

One speculated package the Wiz could offer in a sign-and-trade has been suggested as such:

  • Alex Sarr
  • Khris Middleton
  • Draft picks

Many analysts are calling the idea of trading Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in 2024, and a legit star in the making, "insanity" for Washington to consider.

If something is to happen, it would have to happen fast. Duren has until end of day on Thursday to accept a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer with the Pistons, which would make him an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and free to sign anywhere.

If he does that, he leaves $200M on the table, and takes a huge risk that he would come out of the season unscathed, and still in line for a max-type of deal.
