Houston Rockets Declare 2 Stars Out for Saturday's Game Against Detroit Pistons

The Houston Rockets will be without their top two scorers for their Saturday showdown with the Detroit Pistons. The team officially declared Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. out for tomorrow's game on the NBA Injury Report.

Saturday will mark Green's only second missed game of the season. Porter Jr. has also been exceptionally durable, playing 40 of a possible 49 games this season. They rank first in second on the Rockets in scoring (21.7 and 19.2 points per game) and minutes played (1660 and 1359). Unfortunately, their lack of efficiency has hindered the Rockets all season: Green sports a .533 true shooting percentage and Porter Jr. sits at .551.

Green and Porter Jr have been the young cornerstones of a particularly grim period in Rockets history. With an 11-38 record, the team is on pace for its third-straight season with a winning percentage below .250. Though Green and Porter Jr. have shown promise, the Rockets are still likely at least one superstar away from credibility. That could come either via the NBA Draft or (if rumors are to be believed) free agency.

Following their game against the Pistons, the Rockets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
