NBA Rumors: Durant’s Preferred Trade Destination Not Keen On Having Him

We know that a Kevin Durant trade is coming this offseason. But where to, is very much in question. In fact, a top preferred destination of KD himself has "significant revervations" about taking him on, per a new report from Kelly Iko and Sam Amick in The Athletic

While Durant... is known to be very interested in playing in Houston, team sources said the Rockets still have significant reservations about that possible partnership, in large part, because Durant’s age (36) would be so out of sync with their younger timeline.

The insiders note that previous talks between the teams about any potential Durant trade were initiated by the Suns, not the Rockets. Previous trade talks between the teams also centered around KD’s teammate Devin Booker at one point. But, according to Iko & Amick, "that is no longer the case," as the Rockets now seem to have more belief in Jalen Green than previously thought.

Despite a disappointing playoffs this spring for the former No. 2 overall pick (13.3 ppg), the Rockets "have faith in Jalen Green, who is five years younger than Booker and $66 million cheaper over the next three seasons," and in addition, "Booker’s struggles last season shifted the thinking on this front."

Where will Kevin Durant wind up this summer?

As for Durant, he might have to look elsewhere for a new spot to call home, and we have already looked at potential deals for him to join a former superstar teammate, as well as another one to join the Raptors, who were hot for him the last time he was wanting out of a team, and other options as well.

KD averaged 26.6 points this past season, along with 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists, while shooting at a 43% clip from three-point range. Even at his advancing age, he's still a lethal scorer, and despite the relative disinterest from the Rockets, there will be no shortage of suitors.
