NBA Trade Rumors: Kevin Durant & Western Rival Had Mutual Interest at Deadline
Although Kevin Durant was supposedly taken by surprise at the trade deadline when it became apparent that the Phoenix Suns were looking to trade him, we're getting word that there was "mutual interest" between KD and one of the teams that enquired.
Durant turned down a trade proposal that would have sent him to the Golden State Warriors, but he was interested in joining the San Antonio Spurs, as insider Shams Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.

"(The Spurs) have a ton of tradeable assets. They have the #2 pick and the #14 pick in this year's Draft... I think a Kevin Durant is another guy, there was mutual interest at the deadline. I think they're going to be looking very actively to see if there's a wing player they can bring in to take them over the top."

There are a ton of players around the NBA that are scrambling to play with phenom Victor Wembanyama, and it sounds like we can count KD among them. Those talks are expected to be revisited in the weeks and months ahead.
Charania also revealed last month that there are other teams as well with whom there is mutual interest with KD.
The Kevin Durant Sweepstakes will continue this summer, with a number of teams said to be interested in the 15-time All-Star and former MVP. He and the Suns will be working to find him a new suitable destination, as he's reached the expiry date of his time in the desert.
Even going into his age-37 season, Durant is still a lethal scorer, having posted 26.6 points per game this past year, with 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, while shooting 43% from three-point range.
