Malcolm Brogdon Has 2 Main Suitors in Free Agency
Malik Beasley has gotten most of the buzz of late as a prime Sixth Man candidate in free agency. But for teams that miss out on the former Detroit Pistons' engine off the bench, Malcolm Brogdon is another option.
According to insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (h/t Jason Burgos of Sportsnaut), two teams are in the mix to land the former Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year award winner.
I’m told Malcolm Brogdon has also been on the radar for both the Knicks and the Timberwolves. Which are two of the teams that have been monitoring Beasley’s status.
The Knicks and the T-Wolves are both in search of a Sixth Man-type guard to come off the bench and add some scoring. Brogdon has been a legitimate scorer and playmaker in his nine NBA seasons. His only problem is staying on the court.
Brogdon pursued by 2 teams; has had litany of injury troubles
The 32-year-old has played more than 39 games in a season just once in the last four years, and has only topped the 60-game mark three times in his nine years. In fact, the last time he stayed healthy for an entire season was his rookie year back in 2016-17.
Last season, with the Washington Wizards, Brogdon only managed to suit up for a career-low 24 games due to a ligament tear in his thumb, and an ankle sprain. Some of his other injuries:
- Torn left quadriceps tendon
- Achilles tendon issues
- Elbow
- Hamstring
- Heel
- Back
