NBA Trade Rumors: Giannis Antetokounmpo Lands With Knicks in Proposed Blockbuster
The Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Sweepstakes are apparently ON again, after the report earlier this week from insider Shams Charania that the two-time MVP and Finals MVP has still not made a decision on whether he will stay in Milwaukee with the Bucks or ask for a trade.
New York Knicks Receive:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- Danny Wolf
- 2026 first-round swap (NYK)
- 2028 first-round swap (worst of NYK and BKN)
- 2030 first-round swap (NYK)
- Josh Hart
- 2026 second-round pick (MIL via NYK)
- 2026 second-round pick (MIN via NYK)
All in all, for the Knicks, they would give up KAT and Josh Hart to get Giannis, as well as a few first round pick swaps. They'd be able to run with a star core of Antetokounmpo, Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges.
The Bucks would get a five-time All-Star back in Towns, as well as the Nets' 2025 first rounder in Wolf, and other first-round swaps. As Milwaukee just signed center Myles Turner to a massive free agent contract, it sounds like a weird pairing that doesn't make sense, and Hughes recognizes that. But it would be the only way to make the money work.
For the Nets, he says they could turn around and flip Hart for even more return, to add to the second-rounders they'd receive.
In the end, however, Hughes readily admits that this likely wouldn't get it done for New York. "Barring a specific "Knicks or nothing" request by Antetokounmpo, it's hard to imagine this is anything close to the best package Milwaukee could get."
