Warriors' Pursuit of Westbrook Depends on 2 Key Developments
The most notable unrestricted free agent left on the market remains Russell Westbrook. The Sacramento Kings are still the team most connected to the former nine-time All-Star, but any chance he has of landing in SacTown depends on two things:
(1) They lose out on acquiring RFA Jonathan Kuminga; and (2) they make room for Russ by trading another guard first.
The Sacramento Kings are not expected to sign Russell Westbrook unless they make room by trading a guard, per @sam_amick

“More specifically, the odds of a Russell Westbrook signing go up if they know they’re completely out on Kuminga (though they aren’t expected to make that move unless they can make room in the rotation by trading a guard)," writes Sam Amick in The Athletic.
The Kings are definitely still all-in on Kuminga, first and foremost, writes Amick. In fact, they "have been resisting the urge to make other, smaller moves all summer long because the Kuminga pursuit was a bigger priority."
The talks with the Warriors haven't come close however, as the Kings have refused to include two young players in any trade packages.
But while Kuminga already has a job (once he accepts one of two Golden State Warriors offers), Westbrook is still twisting in the wind, without any other team seemingly with any great interest.
The veteran point guard had a nice season with the Denver Nuggets last year coming off the bench, but he declined his $3.4 million player option to enter free agency.
