Free agents Gary Payton II and De'Anthony Melton have both committed to signing deals to return to the Golden State Warriors.
All of these agreements were on hold throughout the summer as the stalemate with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga held things up, with the Warriors not knowing exactly how much they'd be able to spend. The Kuminga situation has not resolved yet, but by Wednesday, it should be, as that is the deadline for the disgruntled youngster to agree to the Dubs' qualifying offer of $7.9 million. He has already turned down numerous other multi-year offers by the team, but still has an opportunity to accept one of them.
But whether or not the Warriors will have enough money to sign Seth Curry, Steph's brother, another target of theirs, will come down to Kuminga’s decision and his cap hit, per Brett Siegel.
Payton has spent the past 2+ seasons with the Warriors, last year averaging 6.5 points per game, while providing his usual stout defense. He was also with the team during their last championship run in 2022.
Melton, 27, played in just six games last season for the Dubs, but was still able to average just over 10 points per game, as he has for the past four seasons. The defensive playmaker averaged 1.2 blocks per game, but averaged over 1.5 a night in his previous three seasons.
