Breaking: Anthony Davis Could Miss 'Several Months' With Latest Injury

Stop us if you've heard this one before. Anthony Davis could miss "several months" with his latest injury. According to reports, ligament damage in his left hand, suffered Thursday night, could force Davis to undergo surgery.

If a surgical procedure is indeed the course of treatment, AD will miss a number of months, which, of course, would take him out of trade discussions with the deadline coming up in less than four weeks.

Insider Marc Stein reports that the Mavericks will seek a hand specialist’s opinion on the extent of the damage, but "league sources confirm tonight that their fears of ligament damage from the injury sustained in Utah appear to have been validated."

The Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors were three of the teams that were said to be interested in landing the 10-time All-Star. But he's played just 29 of the 79 games available since he was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks last season in the shocking Luka Doncic trade. His injury troubles, which have plagued him for much of his career, have simply not let up.

The latest injury to his hand occured in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Utah Jazz Thursday night. It was a seemingly innocuous play, when Lauri Markkanen went by him on a drive to the basket.

Davis was one of—if not THE biggest—names on the trade market heading to the Feb. 5th deadline.

He was averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots in his 20 games played this season.
