Milwaukee Bucks Targeting 2 Stars in Deadline Trade Additions

Giannis Antetokounmpo once again has one foot IN, rather than out, with the Milwaukee Bucks. He reiterated this past week that he "would never demand a trade" out of town. And with that, the Bucks are in overdrive trying to surround their superstar with what he needs to try to get back in contention this season.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the team is eyeing Ja Morant and Zach LaVine, two very public trade candidates that their respective teams are anxious to move on from.

Multiple league sources have told the USA TODAY SPORTS NETWORK that the Bucks are interested in embattled point guard Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies," writes Jim Owczarski

He then added, "League sources have told the Journal Sentinel that Milwaukee continues to have interest in shooting guard Zach LaVine, who is currently shooting 37.6% from behind the 3-point line in Sacramento while averaging 20 points per game."

Ja Morant & Zach LaVine are on Bucks' radar as trade deadline approaches

Both players are scoring machines and multi-time All-Stars. But the last time either of them made an All-Star team was a few years ago. Morant has played only 77 games in the last 2 1/2 seasons up to this point, due to multiple suspensions and a variety of injuries. It was revealed this week that the Memphis Grizzlies are open to moving on from him.

LaVine has been criticized for bringing 'empty calories' to the table, if you will. A lot of scoring, while not moving the needle for winning. But the Bucks have been showing interest for a while, while the Sacramento Kings would love to unload his contract.

Bringing in those two could potentially add 50 points per night for the Bucks, and take a load of offensive pressure off Giannis. He is averaging 29.5 points, 10 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game this season, though he has missed 14 contests due to injury.

The Bucks are currently 17-21, one game back of a Play-In position. They'll have some serious roster reconstruction to do to put this team back in the mix for real this season.

Or The Greek Freak could just change his mind again.
