A couple of league sources have suggested that the Raptors could be interested in Bucks centre Myles Turner if the Bucks go into fire-sale mode after a potential Antetokounmpo trade.
This certainly wouldn't be the first time that we've heard of Raptors' interest in Turner. He brings two elements that they can badly use out of a center: floor spacing and true rim protection.
If Toronto can stomach the three years and $83.8 million remaining on his deal, he would be a nice addition to the mix.
Turner averaged 38% from three-point land last season and has averaged 38.3% from long distance over the past four seasons. He's also added just a tick under 2.0 blocks per game in that time as well.
Grange notes that Turner "might fit the Raptors’ needs better than the non-shooting (Jakob) Poeltl, whom the Cavaliers refused to guard outside 10 feet during the playoffs and created spacing issues for the likes of Barnes and Ingram."
He suggests the following hypothetical deal would work financially and is likely to satisfy Milwaukee's needs for futures:
Raptors receive:
- Myles Turner, C
- Jakob Poeltl, C
- Gradey Dick, G/F
- First-Round picks (TBA)
"A deal built around Poeltl and Dick would work financially. The rebuilding Bucks would doubtlessly be looking for first-round picks as compensation for taking on an extra year of Poeltl’s contract. How many would be the question," writes Grange.
We'll keep an eye on a move like this as NBA Trade Season kicks into high gear over the coming week. The Draft is Tuesday night, and big things are expected. The first big move could be Giannis, with a frontrunner now officially leading the sweepstakes.
