After a 20-year career, six-time All-Star and NBA Champion Kyle Lowry will be signing one more contract before he officially retires next week. He'll sign a one-day contract with the Toronto Raptors next week and retire as a member of the team for which he's become an icon.
The Raptors have announced an event for July 7th (yes, 7 is the number that Lowry wore with Toronto) and have billed it as a "monumental moment" in Raptors history.

The timing for such a moment couldn't be better, as the Raptors will also be making official the return of Lowry's legendary 2019 teammate Kawhi Leonard, who is back with the team after a stunning trade with the LA Clippers this week.

As for Lowry, he played nine of his 20 seasons with Toronto, the best years of his career, which of course culminated in the 2019 championship with Leonard.
Lowry totaled 18,209 points, 7,840 assists, 5,553 rebounds & 1,675 steals in the regular & postseason. Only seven players in the history of the NBA have matched or exceeded all four of those totals in their careers, and it's a pretty select group: Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, Gary Payton, James Harden, & Russell Westbrook.

His best personal year, stats-wise, came in 2016-17, when he set career-highs of 22.4 points per game and 41% shooting from three-point range, to go along with 7.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds.

Lowry is also unofficially recognized as the NBA's all-time leader in charges drawn, constantly putting his body in the right place and allowing himself to be bowled over, drawing around 300 charges in 20 seasons. The stat only began being recognized in 1996.

It will be a special day in Toronto to see him sign that last NBA contract and officially retire as a Raptor.
