Boston Celtics Broadcast Clowns LA Lakers & Russell Westbrook After Blowout

It was bad enough that the Boston Celtics laid a serious beating on the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night, and even worse that it was discarded Laker Dennis Schroder that led the way for the Celts. But then the Boston broadcast poured salt on the wound with this savage graphic after the game.

NBC Sports Boston identified Schroder during his post-game interview with a name graphic that, instead of posting the point guard's stats next to his name, read "Y'all paying Russ $44 million lol". Ouch.

The Lakers made it clear after the 2020 playoffs that they were not interested in bringing back their free agent point guard Dennis Schroder, who had actually turned down a 4-year, $84M offer from LA earlier last season.

Instead, the Lakers decided to trade a slew of solid rotation players in return for Russell Westbrook and his $44M salary this year and $47M for next season. That hasn't worked out so well thus far for the Lakers, who, after last night's blowout loss, 130-108 to the Celtics, sit in 9th place in the Western Conference with an 8-9 record.

In Friday night's game, Westbrook was held to 12 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds, with a minus-12, while Schroder, who signed a bargain 1-year pact with Boston for a "mere" $5.9 million, went off for 21 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and plus 12, all far above his season averages.

Westbrook has had some rough outings for the Lakers this season, and overall his numbers are down across the board.

The Boston Celtics' broadcasts have always been known to be 'homers', but this kind of blistering shot at Westbrook and the Lakers in a graphic is unheard of, even for them.
