NBA Rumors: Scratch This Team Off Potential Westbrook Trade Destination

If the Los Angeles Lakers and guard Russell Westbrook are to seek a divorce this offseason, as many have speculated, it could be difficult to find a taker. And according to NBA Insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the New York Knicks are definitely not in the mix

I pitched the idea to Knicks people time and again going back to the deadline, and they have no interest… Everything I’ve heard is that New York is trying to grow this group as it is and mix and match a few parts and move forward.

Fischer was speaking with fellow Insider Marc Stein, who also questioned the viability of a trade for Westbrook to anywhere at all, outside of the slight possibility of the Houston Rockets.

It’s just hard to see where (they trade him). Houston, that scenario will remain, but the question will be how willing is Houston to lower (its asking price). They’re going to hold out for some sort of incentivized deal. They’re not just going to trade Wall for Russ...

But beyond Houston and John Wall, I haven’t heard of any team that has changed its appetite for taking Russell Westbrook in via trade.

In the meantime, at least one NBA star has had enough of the Westbrook slander making the rounds this season.

"The disrespect.. That sh*t gotta stop, bro. We acting like this man is not a Hall of Famer," said Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal about Westbrook.

Westbrook is still owed $47M in the final year of his contract next season. After trading for him before the season, the Lakers have struggled to a 31-42 record, tied with the New Orleans Pelicans for the last two play-in spots in the West.
