"What The Hell Is Going On Here?" Celtics Players Dazed & Confused Over Udoka Going To Nets

NBA fans, executives, media and everyone else that follows the sport seem to be shocked that shamed and suspended former Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is set to be named the new head coach of the dysfunctional Brooklyn Nets.

But perhaps no one is more stunned than Celtics players.

"I think it left a lot of people just like, 'What the hell is going on here?'" Marcus Smart said. “I don’t think you’ll ever get a straight answer about what’s really going on because there’s only so much they can say and that they know,” Smart said. “You can ask, but I don’t think it’s going to change anything, help anything."

Smart added, “his name got slandered & slaughtered and it was ‘He’ll probably never coach again.’ And a couple months later he’s possibly going to be the coach of one of our biggest rivals. It’s tough. It makes no sense.

"Obviously, they suspended him for breaking a team rule," continued Smart.  "And it’s like, ‘OK, now obviously it looks like more than a suspension'. But [now] he’s able to still coach. So what exactly was the team rule and how big was it to the point they felt they needed to suspend him and then all of a sudden say, ‘You’re gone’ and allow him to go coach somewhere else?"

Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski have been reporting that a deal to bring Udoka to Brooklyn is imminent. It's a decision that has left many who follow the sport outraged, calling the Nets a "disgrace" and "soulless."
