Report: Klay Thompson Talks With Warriors "At A Dead Point"

We brought you the news a week ago that the Klay Thompson extension talks, as he heads into the final year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, weren't going exactly as all had hoped. Now comes word that the situation is more dire than that. According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, the negotiations are "at a dead point."

The Warriors and Klay Thompson have been discussing an extension. From what I've been told, there's a significant gap in years and money. And the negotiations right now are at a dead point.
Thompson wants much more than the Warriors are offering... All signs point to Klay hitting free agency in the summer.

Last season, Draymond Green played out the season on an expiring contract, with many wondering (including Green himself) if he'd be back. Turns out all went well during the season, and the Dubs signed him to a 4-year, $100M contract this summer.

Will the same sort of scenario play out with Klay?

As Shams says, Thompson could be playing this season "with a chip on his shoulder." That could turn out to be a dangerous thing for the rest of the league, if not for Golden State.

All eyes will be on the Warriors this year, as their Big 3 Dynasty could be playing out its final scene.
