Bizarre New Twist In Kelly Oubre ‘Hit and Run’ Incident

We reported over the weekend that Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was rushed to hospital with injuries after what he claimed was a hit-and-run accident as he was crossing the street in downtown Philly. Now, however, police are saying that it might not have happened...?

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, surveillance footage recovered to this point shows no evidence that any crash occurred at the Center City intersection where Oubre reported being hit on Saturday night.

“The Police Department currently does not have any video or photographic evidence that depicts this collision,” said a department spokesperson.

It's possible that Oubre, who was likely a bit disoriented after suffering his injuries, which included broken ribs and injuries to his hip and leg, reported the wrong location to police, as he is new to Philly and unfamiliar with the streets.

Police have not charged Oubre with anything, and are continuing their investigation. The 27-year-old forward, who was off to a great start for the Sixers since they signed him late in the offseason, is out indefinitely. He was averaging 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 37.8% shooting from long range in about 29 minutes per game.
