Joel Embiid Wants You to Know He's the MVP of the NBA

If you ask Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers he'll tell you there is no doubt about it, he's the MVP of the NBA this season.

And while he's certainly building a strong case the likes of Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry and a few others have thrown their hat in the rings. Our very own Tom Baker discussed the latest MVP rankings in the recent segment of Baker's Dozen.

The 26-year-old Embiid recently connected with Shams Charania of The Athletic and had this to say about his stellar season:

There’s no doubt. I've been dominant all season. It just feels like every single time I have the ball, (defenses) always send three guys on me, and I'm still able to do what I do best. When you look at our rankings and my numbers, I feel like I'm deserving to be on the All-Defensive team. I do it on both sides.

Embiid is averaging 30.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 blocks this season, while shooting 51.5% from the field and 38.7% from deep. Not bad for a 7-foot center who handles like a guard.

Between Embiid, Jokic and Curry, it's going to come down to who can stay healthy down the stretch. With James Harden missing time with a hamstring injury, it's likely he's out of the conversation even though he feels he's the MVP.

It's a good thing the players can't vote, everyone would just vote for themselves.
