Rumor: Boston Celtics To Name New Head Coach

The Boston Celtics continue to search for a new head coach after Brad Stevens was promoted to the front office and it sounds like they have found their man.

Chauncey Billups, the former point-guard and current assistant for the Los Angeles Clippers is rumored to be the top candidate and now that the Celtics internal candidate have been interviewed, Stevens is looking to meet with Billups and appears headed to offer him the position. Billups was once a third overall pick of the Celtics back in 1997.

There are a few other candidates who have been tied to the position including Jason Kidd of the LA Lakers, Lloyd Pierce previously with the Atlanta Haws and Darvin Ham of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics have a young team and someone like Billups who has a fresh mind for the game could be the perfect fit.

While the coach will have his own duties, Stevens is going to have a ton of work to do this offseason. There's talk Kemba Walker could be moved for a big man, as the team tries to find the right compliments for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Let's hope for Billups' sake, he can mesh well with the two young stars and get the team back to being a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference.
