Goran Dragic Now Excited To Join Toronto Raptors

It was the ill-advised comment on Slovenian television that went viral: Goran Dragic had said that Toronto wasn't his "preferred destination" after he was traded to the Raptors in a sign-and-trade deal that sent Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat.

But now that Dragic has arrived north of the border, in advance of training camp at the end of this month, he has done a 180, and appears to be very excited to join the young Raptors team. At least if you go by his recent Instagram post:

Dragic posted a shot of a hotel room-full of Raptors gear, everything from backbacks to t-shirts, hats and face masks, and even a Raptor Mascot stuffed animal. He thanked the team for the paraphernalia, and posted "Let's get to work!!!!"

Dragic briefly became public enemy No. 1 in Toronto earlier this summer after his ill-fated "higher ambitions" quote on Slovenian TV, but he just as quickly recanted his comments, apologizing to Raptors fans, and admitting that "they've won a championship and I haven't."

After arriving in Toronto earlier this week, he was out on the town in downtown T.O., with new teammates Scottie Barnes, Sam Dekker, Ishmail Wainwright and Freddie Gillespie (the Raptors "veteran" of the group, with all of 20 games played last year).

The Raptors had tried to work out a Dragic trade to the Dallas Mavericks after acquiring him, but the Mavs weren't willing to give up anything of value.

Dragic has averaged 13.9 points, 3.1. rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in his 13-year career, the last seven spent in Miami.
