NBA Rumors: Thunder Big Man To Exercise Player Option

While speaking with reporters, Derrick Favors noted that he is expecting to exercise his player option for the 2022-23 campaign.

Favors played in 39 games this season, where he averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists. With that, he averaged 16.7 minutes per game. A major reason for his playing time being a bit down was because the Thunder were aiming to play their younger players more frequently. This is understandable, as they are a rebuilding squad, after all.

Yet, even with all of this being the case, Favors is understandably sticking around for another year. This is mainly because he is now set to make a nice $10 million for the season. The Thunder could end up looking to move, but when looking at his salary, it could be hard for them to find him a new home.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see what happens with Favors from here. Will he be in OKC for the 2022-23 season or traded elsewhere?
