Another Contender Suddenly Emerges As Russell Westbrook Destination

Milwaukee Bucks targeting free agent Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook is one of the most notable free agents still on the market, and the former MVP and nine-time All-Star has a few teams reportedly interested in his services. The latest team to "suddenly emerge" as a suitor is the Milwaukee Bucks.

Per insider Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, the Bucks are looking for depth in the backcourt.

“In recent days, another team has suddenly emerged as a possible suitor for Westbrook: the Milwaukee Bucks. The expectation surrounding the Bucks is that they will be utilizing one of their final roster spots to add extra guard depth after bringing back Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins in free agency.

"Given Westbrook's athleticism and speed, he would be an ideal fit next to Giannis Antetokounmpo on a Bucks team that likes to push the pace in transition.”

Westbrook decided to decline his $3.4 million player option with the Denver Nuggets to test the open market this summer, and we've already outlined some teams that have Westbrook on their radar.

Now 36, he proved this past season that he was finally accepting of playing a role off the bench, as he had a solid year in Denver, averaging 13.3 points and 6.1 assists in almost 28 minutes a game.

The Bucks, of course, are moving forward without superstar guard Damian Lillard, who tore his Achilles in Milwaukee's first-round playoff series exit, and has since been waived. He is now a free agent.
